BenVista PhotoZoom Classic is a novel photo editor that specializes in enlarging your photos with the minimum possible loss of quality. The program features a technology called "S-Spline", which allows you to zoom a photograph several hundreds of times with surprisingly good results. This technology seems to be better than other well-known algorithms, such as Lanczos, Mitchell, Bilinear, and Bicubic.
The program offers a simple and intuitive user interface. All popular image file formats are supported, including JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF, and TGA. Once you have opened one of your images, you can start changing its width and height by percentage, pixels, inches, millimeters, centimeters, picas, and points. You can also change the image's resolution in pixels per inch, pixels per centimeter, and percentage, as well as the method to keep the aspect ratio, selecting among constrain proportions, stretch, and crop. The program also allows you to crop a portion of your source image file and enlarge it, a very helpful feature in many instances.
Meanwhile, you can select or change the resize method at any time. The program provides you with eleven resize methods, including the already mentioned S-Spline XL, S-Spline, bicubic, Mitchell, etc. However, both S-Spline-based methods include nine presets each, while the other methods come with only two presets. This gives you a total of 36 options for you to choose from when enlarging your photos. Besides, any of these options allows you to tweak the unsharp masking parameters manually, a very helpful feature if you happen to be an expert in photo editing. Last, the program also allows you to create and manage your own resize profiles, which can save you a lot of time in the future if you often need to enlarge photos.
In short, BenVista PhotoZoom Classic is a powerful tool that allows you to enlarge your photos with the minimum loss of quality by using different algorithms at your choice. However, I think this program would be much better if it included at least some basic image editing functions or effects.
